Welcome. I created this page to share my books, workshops, tips and tools with you. I’ll be adding more information as I go, including events and workshops that may be of interest to you. In future posts I’ll reference this page quite often, so I recommend bookmarking it for your own personal reference.
When I started my writing journey, I had no idea where it would take me. Drawing on decades of research and practical experience in adult and community development, I learned to trust in the process and took advantage of the opportunities that were available to me. I now offer one-on-one personalised, professional support and community workshops to encourage others to capture and preserve their own stories as legacy projects for their families, friends and for their communities.
The inspiration for the ‘Older and Bolder’ series of books came from chatting with hundreds of men and women, who have reached mid-life and beyond and are flourishing in later life. As life is a continuous adventure, chronological age becomes less and less relevant. Later life offers so many possibilities for personal growth and the opportunity to channel our time and energy into the activities we enjoy and the relationships that really matter.
A huge debt of gratitude is due to the awesome individuals, from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life, who generously shared their stories with me. It’s with their permission that a lifetime of wildly different experiences has been condensed into 4 collections of short cameo stories for you to enjoy! These individuals are living fulfilling lives on their own terms, and inspired by their example, so can we. After all, life is a gift and it’s up to each of us to make the most of it. Changing Gears: Entrepreneurs @ 50+ Yes, you can generate an income while crafting a life of independence and purpose…. if you want to.
Globally, there is an emerging trend for people to start a business for the first time in later life. In New Zealand, 45% of these ‘Entrepreneurs’ are over the age of 50 – and this trend has steadily increased since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Why do individuals in the second half of life choose to change gears, and go down this route? What is the trigger? What motivates them? What is the nature of the businesses they established, and how did they go about it?
In this book you’ll meet 33 Entrepreneurs @ 50+, who challenge the stereotypical belief, that advancing age narrows down life choices. It doesn’t. These individuals create their own reality. If you have that nagging feeling of ‘what’s next for me’, this book is for you. It’s full of tips, ideas and lessons learned from others who have embarked on this path beyond mid-life. Who knows, inspired by their example, you might like to change gears too!

Memories of the Royal Family A Kiwi Collection
This book is a treasure trove of stories, anecdotes, musings, photos, memorabilia, and copies of original newspaper cuttings lovingly preserved by the Kiwi community. From the poignant to the humourous, these shared moments are a testament to the diversity within New Zealand’s population, and the enduring fascination, admiration, and affection for the Royal Family in Aotearoa. References to radio broadcasts, and original film footage used in New Zealand, provide a deep appreciation of the traditions and social norms of the era. This captivating collection of experiences and perspectives is a touching reminder that history is not just about the past – it’s a living breathing story that continues to shape our lives into the future. This collection of stories, anecdotes & musings, was written in association with the Write Your Story community with support from Creative NZ, Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa. Copies can be purchased through the usual channels or directly from the author.
