Every life has a story, including yours
You don’t need to have lived an extraordinary life to have stories worth preserving.
Your story might be made up of childhood memories, family history, travel adventures, a career or business journey, love and loss, living with illness or disability, a spiritual journey, or simply the people, places and moments that have shaped who you are.
Write Your Story is a welcoming community workshop designed to help you begin capturing those experiences in your own words.
You don’t need to think of yourself as a writer, and there is no expectation that you arrive with a perfectly formed idea. For many people, the hardest part is simply knowing where to begin.
Through discussion, practical exercises and writing prompts, we explore ways to uncover memories, develop ideas and turn experiences into stories that can be shared with family and friends, or simply kept for yourself.
More than preserving memories
Writing about your life can be a surprisingly powerful experience.
It gives us an opportunity to reflect on where we have been, recognise the people and experiences that have influenced us, and sometimes see our own lives from a completely different perspective.
For many people, the process brings a greater sense of self-awareness, connection and purpose.
And the best place to start is often much simpler than you think.
All you really need is an open mind, a notebook and a pen.
